About Me

My name is Christian Eklund and I live in a small cozy town called Moss located at the eastern shore of the Oslo fjord in Norway.

I work as a geologist at Roxar Software Solutions located in Lysaker, 70 km north of my home.

When we first moved here I planned to go to the office by train, but after a year and a half I gave up and am now commuting by car. I'm saving about 30 minutes  travel time each way by driving myself compare to earlier, and I am able to pick up the kids from kindergarden.

Why did it take 1 hour and 20 minutes to commute by train?

First I had to drive to the station: 10 minutes

Wait for the train, and take it to Oslo S: 45 minutes

Change trains at Oslo S, and go to Lysaker: 20 minutes

Walk from Lysaker station to the office: 5 minutes

By comparison it takes 50 minutes to drive to Lysaker and park in the underground garage of my office.

So, is it more expensive to drive? Not really, I'm driving an electric car.
